This reduction linocut print recalls a woodland walk in late summer. The foliage is beginning to loosen and heavy rain has brought down some of the first green sycamore leaves on to the path below.
The reduction method of printmaking uses just one plate, which is further cut away after each layer is printed, so there is no going back and the print cannot be repeated. There are just 8 prints in this edition. Six layers were printed in total, of which only two were shades of green; the complex variations in tones were created by printing translucent grey layers over or under the green ones. As each layer is handprinted, there are variations between each print and no two are absolutely identical. There may be small differences from the images shown. This print is supplied UNFRAMED AND UNMOUNTED.
