This reduction linocut print depicts the view from Stormy Point on Alderley Edge, looking out across the Cheshire Plain. Cloven hoofprints can be seen in the foreground leading to the deep cleft in the rock known as the Devil's Grave....
The reduction method of printmaking uses just one plate, which is further cut away after each layer is printed, so there is no going back and the print cannot be repeated. There are just 5 prints in this edition. There is a short time lapse video below showing the layers building up. As each layer is handprinted, often with graduated rolls of colour, there are variations between each print and no two are absolutely identical. The print you receive will be the one shown in the first image above at the time of ordering. This print is supplied UNFRAMED AND UNMOUNTED.
