This is an original collagraph print depicting the beautiful medieval Hospitium in York. Once part of the now ruined St Mary's Abbey complex, this 14th century building stands in York's peaceful Museum Gardens where it is a popular venue for weddings and celebrations, making this a great gift to remember a special day.
A collagraph plate is made by building up the image with texture and applied elements. Ink is then applied by hand before the artist passes the plate through an etching press with dampened paper. This method produces not only richly coloured images but also an embossed effect on the paper.
The hand made nature of the process, and the fact that the plate is inked up from scratch with multiple colours each time, means that every print will be unique. Please see the numbered images and choose your print from those currently offered from the drop down list before adding to your basket.
Your collagraph will be delivered to you UNFRAMED for safe shipping. It will be backed by card and wrapped in cellophane and carefully protected with tissue paper and stiff cardboard.
