Paper size approx 36 x 26 cm Somerset Satin printmaking paper
The edition number, title, signature and date are written under the image in pencil. On some prints the embossed 'Somerset' paper watermark is visible in the lower margin, below the image.
This reduction linocut print looks into a stand of silver birches on spring day, with lawns, gardens and further trees visible in the background.
The reduction method of printmaking uses just one plate, which is further cut away after each layer is printed, so there is no going back and the print cannot be repeated. This print was created in ten stages of carving and printing. There are just 10 prints in this edition. As each layer is handprinted, there are variations between each print and no two are absolutely identical. There may be small differences from the images shown. This print is supplied UNFRAMED AND UNMOUNTED.
