This reduction linocut print depicts a kestrel hovering in flight, which we saw on a visit to the National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park.
The reduction method of printmaking uses just one plate, which is further cut away after each layer is printed, so there is no going back and the print cannot be repeated. There are just 8 prints in this edition, made with 5 delicate layers of translucent ink, hand burnished onto fine Japanese paper. As each layer is handprinted, there are slight variations between each print and no two are absolutely identical. The print you will receive is number 8 and is the one shown in the first image and close up details. Please also be aware that colours can show differently on screens and monitors. This print is supplied UNFRAMED AND UNMOUNTED.
