Limited edition linoprint based on Viking images - sienna/ochre
This hand pulled print in blended burnt sienna and ochre is one of a few limited edition colour variations I have made using this hand carved lino block.
This print was created especially for an exhibition here in my home city of York, England, which 1200 years ago was the independent Viking kingdom of Jorvik. Elements of the image are derived from various authentic Viking artefacts, ranging from carved stone grave markers found in the local area to the magnificent Oseberg ship in Norway. My aim was to replicate the curious mix of naïve drawing and complex design found in much Viking art and I have varied the burnishing to give the impression of a stone carving which has worn away with time.
Each print is individually hand printed so the distribution of colour and the ink burnishing in different areas will vary and each print is unique. Your print may not be exactly the same as the one shown here.
It has been hand printed using oil based inks on quality 210gsm Zerkall printmaking paper.
This print is supplied UNFRAMED AND UNMOUNTED.
