This small book is constructed from a 'snake fold' which allows a single rectangle of paper to become a concertina of twelve pages. Each of the twelve images refers to one of the gifts my true love gave to me in the traditional song.
Each book is individually handprinted from a linocut using a blended roll of red, gold and green inks. The hand made nature of this book and the unpredictability of the inking method means differences will occur and each book is unique. For a closer look see the video below.
The covers are also printed from a linocut plate and are covered in stars. Odd numbers in the edition of twelve (1,3,5,7,9 and 11) have red covers and are tied closed with dark green ribbon. Even numbers (2,4,6,8,10 and 12) have green covers and red ribbon. You can make a choice when adding to your basket.
Closed the book measures just 7 x 7 cm (about 2.75" x 2.75"), opening out to approximately 28 x 21 cm when unfolded into a flat sheet.
Only twelve books will be made. Each one will be numbered, signed and dated in pencil on the reverse of the images.
You will receive one book, wrapped in tissue and presented in a labelled gift box tied with red and cream string.
