A Glorious Thing

'Oh what a glorious thing to be, a healthy grown up busy busy bee...'

This tiny explosion fold book contains fifteen images of bees found in the British Isles (see list below), all roughly life size.

Each book is individually handprinted from a drypoint etching plate and then hand tinted with watercolour paint, so slight differences will occur and each book is unique. The covers are also printed from drypoint plates with a hand rolled background layer which naturally varies from book to book. The book is tied closed with white ribbon.

Closed the book measures just 5.25 x 5.25 cm (about 2" x 2"), opening out to approximately 28 cm from point to point when fully extended. These prints are made on damp paper and as the paper dries there is some shrinkage; this means that when the paper is cut to shape there may be visible marks left from the edges of the plate as can be seen in these photos. These are part of the handmade printing process and not leftover pencil lines.

Each book is numbered, signed and dated in pencil on the reverse of the images.

You will receive one book, wrapped in tissue and presented in a labelled gift box.
