Image size 18 x 18 cm (approx 7" x 7") Paper size 25 x 25 cm - Zerkall 210gsm printmaking paper
This hand pulled print has been made using the Japanese watercolour woodblock method (moku hanga) in which artist quality watercolour pigment and rice paste (nori) are carefully brushed on the handcarved wooden printing blocks before the image is burnished on dampened paper (see third image). This is a slow and painstaking process which allows the artist to produce shaded effects and blended colour. This image of a vibrant red poppy required more than eighteen individual applications of pigment.
The nature of this method means that each print is unique: your print may have small differences from the ones shown here.
The print is supplied unmounted and unframed. The title, edition number, artist's signature and date are written in pencil under the image.
