collagraph monoprint based on the stone circle at Avebury
Image size 25 x 20 cm (approx 9.75 x 7.75") Paper size 37 x 32 cm
Printed using oil based inks on Zerkall hand made printmaking paper.
The ancient stone circle in Avebury, England, was the inspiration for this unique handmade collagraph print. The collagraph process produces not only densely coloured but also textured prints which have a slightly embossed effect. The third image shows the plate from which this print was made and you can see how the deep contours of the plate will have pressed into the paper.
Each time the plate is used it is inked up by hand with a careful combination and layering of colours which means that each print is unique. The print is numbered '1/1' indicating that it is a unique monoprint. Other prints have been made using this plate with different colouring.
The title, artist's name and date are written under the image in pencil. The print is unframed.
