I Paint Ida Painting
Watercolour and pencil
30 x 42 cm
2004
This painting was completed from life in one sitting and
subsequently has a looser feel than one completed over a period of time such
as 'Hobbit'.
Ida was painting her own self portrait in acrylic and this is
reflected in her look of quiet concentration and also in her erect pose as
she attempts to paint without moving her head, only moving her eyes from
mirror to paper. She was so intent on what she was doing she was
oblivious to those around her and with her stillness and lack of
self-consciousness she made a perfect model!
