December 2006
I spent a couple of days this month at
handPRINT Studio with Peter
Wray RE. I had a fascinating time experimenting with collagraph
printmaking and will certainly be spending more time at the Studio in the
New Year. |

November 2006
A great time was had by exhibitors and visitors alike at
the last Addingham 'Original Art' Exhibition of 2006. The atmosphere
at these shows is relaxed and informal and the standard of work is always
impressive, featuring artists from right across the country. Details
of forthcoming 2007 dates are on the Exhibitions page.

October 2006
As of this month my work is displayed in another two
on-line galleries. I was pleased to be invited to join
ArtistBank and
later in the month also joined American site,
ArtWanted.
I was very flattered to have two of my pieces selected by fellow ArtWanted
members as a 'pic of the day' on each of my first two days on the site,
while on the third day another of my pieces was in the Top Ten Most
Viewed.
ACEOs continue to be popular with a new series of
stylised birds. Bookings and enquiries for the Charles Reid workshops are
gathering pace; it seems the dark evenings are turning people's thoughts
to holidays! Both courses are now nearly fully booked.
I have also found myself in print in 'Artists &
Illustrators' for the second month running. My thoughts on
portraiture have been included in the 'The Great Debate' in the December
issue. |

September 2006
This month started with an unusual portrait commission.
I was asked to conduct the first sitting at the subject's birthday
celebration, surrounded by all the family looking on. Although
initially surprising, this was a rather nice idea - reminiscent of the way
that portrait sittings were once regarded as an event in themselves.
The sitter had bought a new hat especially for the occasion and so the
finished piece is called, of course, 'The Birthday Hat'.
The end of month sees publication of the November issue
of 'Artists & Illustrators' which includes a feature on me, written after
a few phone conversations with the editor, John Swinfield (a charming man,
if you're reading this John!). The painting chosen to illustrate the
piece is 'Hobbit', a portrait I painted of my daughter in 2004. |

August 2006
Time for some rest and relaxation with family trips
around Britain. I of course took my sketch book and camera when we
went to the Isle of Skye and have a store of resource material to work
from over the winter. |

July 2006
Demand for my ACEOs (art cards) is growing rapidly.
I'm delighted that lots of USA customers are finding my work too - the
wonders of eBay! I will continue to display ACEOs on the site
here with the facility to enquire and reserve a
card if it has not already been sold. |
